SONG COVER CHALLENGE 2024 - "For What It's Worth" - Buffalo Springfield
Song Cover Challenge 2024 -
CONTEXT: Song cover challenge is a yearly event in which a bunch of people suggest songs to be covered. Those same people are then randomly assigned a song (from the suggestion pool) to cover.
This year's SCC had a theme - the 30th anniversary of Forest Gump. I was assigned "For What it's Worth" by Buffalo Springfield.
This cover was a rollercoaster - mid way through the challenge period after almost completing audio tracking and hating how it sounded, I scrapped the project and re-recorded the entire thing. This left me much happier with the audio, but with not much time (about 2 weeks before the deadline with 90% of a re-record, the whole mixing/mastering process ahead of me and absolutely no time to make an artsy video I was ready to quit).
As for the video? a fast approaching deadline + very topical lyrics + finding myself deeply burned out made a "visual vibe" seem like a not terrible option.
