🌟✨ Post-Abdominal Surgery Self-Care: Part 2 of 3 ✨🌟

Continuing our series on post-abdominal surgery recovery, Dr. Brooke Kalisiak shares more essential tips to help you heal and feel your best! After her own gallbladder removal surgery, she used these strategies to support her recovery, and now she’s passing them on to you.

1️⃣ *Drink Lots of Water:* Staying hydrated helps flush out toxins, reduces swelling, and supports overall healing.
2️⃣ *Ice Over Incisions:* Applying ice can reduce swelling, numb pain, and promote healing at the incision sites.
3️⃣ *Use Pillow Support for Cough and Sit to Stand:* Holding a pillow against your abdomen helps protect your incision and reduces pain when coughing or transitioning from sitting to standing.
4️⃣ *Wear Compression Stockings on Legs:* These can help prevent blood clots and improve circulation during your recovery.
5️⃣ *Practice Core Connection of Deep Abdominals with Breath:* Engaging your deep abdominal muscles with your breath supports core stability and protects your incision.
6️⃣ *Log Roll to Get Out of Bed:* This technique minimizes strain on your abdomen and reduces discomfort when getting in and out of bed.

Save this post and share it with a friend who’s preparing for surgery. And if you’re facing an upcoming abdominal surgery, schedule a consult with a pelvic PT ahead of time to learn how to optimize your recovery!
