🌟✨ Post-Abdominal Surgery Self-Care: Part 3 of 3 ✨🌟
In the final part of our series, Dr. Brooke Kalisiak shares the core exercises she started in week 2 of her recovery after gallbladder removal surgery. These exercises are designed to gently re-engage your core muscles and support your healing process.
Early Post-Op Core Exercises
1️⃣ *Heel Slide:* Focus on exhaling and contracting your deep abdominals, holding this contraction as you slide one heel along the floor.
2️⃣ *Bent Knee Fallout:* Engage your core, then slowly let one knee fall out to the side while keeping your pelvis stable and your deep abdominals engaged.
3️⃣ *Straight Leg Raise:* Keep your core engaged as you lift one straight leg off the ground, holding the contraction throughout the movement.
For each exercise, aim for 1-2 sets of 10 reps on each leg, performed 1-2 times a day. These gentle movements help activate your core and set the foundation for a strong recovery.
Save this post and share it with a friend who’s in recovery. And if you’re preparing for or recovering from abdominal surgery, schedule a consult with a pelvic PT to get personalized guidance and optimize your healing!
