How to Win an Argument by Changing an International Standard
What started out as a petty attempt to prove Jono from Megalag wrong about the SAEJ3016 level of conventional cruise control turned into one of the most ambitious submissions I've ever made.

Join me in this video where I begin by making an argument about a weird technicality and irregularity in the SAEJ3016 standard for the levels of autonomous vehicles and how that starts me on a journey of potentially making one of the biggest changes to SAEJ3016 since its inception.
Do we really need Level 5? Level 5 has an unlimited Operational Design Domain, but this is purely theoretical in nature - the actual ODD of a Level 5 self driving car will be limited just like Level 4. I make a case in this video that Level 5 is actually doing more harm than good and how if we want people to be safer and clearer when communicating with each other about autonomous vehicles and self driving cars, then maybe we need to remove level 5 entirely.
