I've always heard of sports like professional free-divers where breath training is essential to performance. Other athletes like surfers also train their breath as a safety precaution to being pulled under a wave. Endurance feat artists like David Blaine also push their breath holding to the furthest extent of what's possible to make up all reconsider what actually is possible.

But does breath hold training have a place in the training and lifestyle of an athlete? How about a regular individual?

Athletes can benefit from increasing Oxygen capacity and training their tolerance to Carbon Dioxide buildup in their lungs. General population individuals can strengthen their physiology from the inside out in order to create a more resilient and gracefully aging body. In this video I dissect the components of breath hold training, and break down topics such as static apnea holds, dynamic apnea holds, the influence of nutrition, and free ways to improve your breath hold training. This DOES NOT have to be its own workout, take inspiration from some ideas discussed here and figure out what can fit into your current lifestyle. We're all training to build better bodies for whatever personal goals, sometimes it helps to learn, hear, and watch a new concept on how to achieve that.
