By combining end-range partials for my quads with blood flow restriction (BFR) protocols, I am able to consistently get some incredible blood flow pumps in a short amount of time. I am currently using this exercise as apart of a multi-month long period of patellar tendon training where I have recently begun the final segment of dynamic/ballistic tendon training. This exercise is not for everyone, however I hope that it provides some insight into how personalized and adaptive training can be. Frankly I don't even know if this "variation" is an exercise individuals use, however that in a way is the point. Whether an exercised is "named" and "commonplace" or not has no sway on the effectiveness. Base yourself in fundamentals of exercise physiology and a world of training can open up to you!
