If you've ever witnessed an airbag explode, then you know how powerful they are. If you've never seen an airbag explode (in person) you should know how powerful they are. They can kill you. If you find yourself having no choice but to work on your Trailblazer/Envoy/etc airbag system, here are two ways to disable the system before service.
The reason for showing both methods is that the service info calls for a different version to be used depending on the work being done. I have an airbag problem in my 2003 and diagnosing the problem requires that the battery remains connected and the system disabled. So there are two ways to do it, with the battery disconnect version being preferred (by the people who built the truck) and using the sir fuse version when the service manual says to do so.
I've repaired many airbag problems over the years and I still get nervous when I'm working on them every time. I'm all for you guys working on your own rides but if you're not sure of something while you're working with airbags, it will pay to pay a pro. Be safe.
