Trailblazer squishy console lid repair and reinforcement - now stronger then GM could make it
Just about every Trailblazer that I have driven has had this problem. Even my 03 has had it for at least 10 years LOL. The design of these console lids has a fatal flaw - not enough reinforcement where it's needed most, which leads to the broken plastic and makes the lid squishy. Contrary to what the professional technicians who write amazon reviews will tell you, replacing the broken plastic parts is a temporary solution. Try putting some weight on your new plastic pieces and tell me how you make out. Actually don't tell me, I already know the answer.
No matter how well I label my videos, how much detail I put into these description boxes, or how well I explain what I'm showing, there are (lots of) people who get confused. They don't read the description, don't watch what I'm doing, and don't listen to the explanations. Then when the fix doesn't work for them, they get mad at me. Those peeps should stick to their fast and easy fantasy world, this reality isn't built for them.
No links for the great stuff expanding foam or the plastic bonder. It was cheaper at Lowe's then it was on Amazon so your best bet it to get them locally. The JB weld plastic bonder is probably the best plastic bonder that I have used and highly recommended. The foam and bonder are also available in black, they just weren't in stock at Lowe's.
