MAKE YOUR OWN CRYSTALS! Remote Lab
In this Remote Lab you will learn about the science behind crystals and how they are formed and then will have a chance to GROW your own. Have sugar? Try this trick out to make your very own ROCK CANDY, yum!
Gather these items before you begin this CRYSTALS LAB:
1.) Any and all of these make good crystals so you don’t have to have them all. Just use what you have or if you want to grab extra stuff if you’re out at the store anyway that’s fine too!
Table salt
Rock salt
Epsom salt (can find in first aid section at store)
Sugar
Borax (laundry additive product)
Alum (found in spice section, not all stores have!)
Sodium Meta Bi-sulfate (stump remover powder)
Copper Sulfate (pool and aquarium cleaner, herbicide, blue powder)
2.) A bowl, glass, or dish to grow crystals in/on. *If you bought our DIY Kit the Petri Dish that came in it works perfect for this!
3.) Bowl, spoons, or things to mix your crystal solution with
4.) Cup of warm/hot water to dissolve items chosen from step #1.
5.) *Optional: Stick or small item you want to see if you can grow the crystals on in addition to your bowl, cup, dish, etc.
