Fruitless Christmas Cake – Super Soft & Bakery Style!
7.5 INCH (OVEN)
HALF BUTTER + HALF OIL
REGULAR SWEETNESS
WITH 2 TBSP CARAMEL
NO SUGAR SYRUP (NO OVER-SWEETNESS)
⭐ INGREDIENTS
✔ DRY INGREDIENTS
Maida / All-purpose flour – 200 g (1½ cups + 2 tbsp)
Baking powder – 1½ tsp
Baking soda – ¼ tsp
Salt – ¼ tsp
Cinnamon – ½ tsp
Nutmeg – ¼ tsp
Clove powder – ⅛ tsp
✔ WET INGREDIENTS
(Half butter + half oil for softness in Canada)
Soft unsalted butter – 90 g (⅓ cup + 1 tbsp)
Oil – 90 ml (⅓ cup + 1 tbsp)
Sugar – 200 g (1 cup) → Regular sweetness
Eggs – 3 large, room temperature
Vanilla essence – 2 tsp
Orange zest – 1 tsp
Milk – 2 tbsp (30 ml)
✔ CARAMEL SYRUP
👉 Add exactly 2 tablespoons (30 ml)
NO more.
This gives perfect light-brown Christmas colour without extra sweetness.
⭐ METHOD (OVEN – NO FAIL VERSION)
Preheat Oven
Set to 170°C (340°F).
Prepare Tin
Grease and line a 7.5-inch round tin with parchment.
Bake at 170°C for 35–45 minutes.
Start checking at 35 minutes:
✔ Skewer in the center must come out clean
✔ If top browns too fast → tent loosely with foil
Cool in tin 10–15 minutes → remove → cool fully on rack.
