The lovely Petula Clark's number 1 hit from 1961. Child star, actress, singer and now an amazing lady of 91 years old.
Geeks, Nerds and Anoraks Corner.
I don't like adding notes and twiddly bits all over the place so to try and accentuate a simple basic melody I decided to treat it with a lush expansive sound, so I added stereo echoes from the Tascam DP24 SD recorder and I found that patch 6 on the Hall and Collins Signature Echo allowed me to match the echo repeats on the two machines quite closely, but the H and C unit always remains dominant. I have much more experimentation to do in this regard. Then I tried different harmony lines for the chorus and the one I liked the best was rather like a simple counter melody.
I used the neck pickup on my Squier Strat fitted with standard Fender pickups and 10-46 gauge Elixirs. For the verse in the lower register I used the bridge pickup with the tone control turned down half way.
The backing track is from mp3now.com.
I am very pleased with the result, I hope others will be too.
