Lettuce set from the "Different" stage Sunday night 9-11-22 8:30PM-9:30PM w/ sound system by Funktion One. Right before this set there was a big lightning storm and the festival grounds were actually closed, with everyone kicked out to take shelter in their cars or tents while the storm passed. Due to that there was no Orgone set which was a bummer. But it did add an extra layer of excitement to the music, with everything being pushed back 1 hour from the original schedule, and Lettuce reopening the fest.
Set list: RVA Dance, Shine, Everything's Gonna Be Alright, Trapezoid, (ahhh help me out with the name of this last one)
This was actually the band I was most hyped to hear and the reason I brought all my recording gear along. I had seen them at High Sierra in July of 2022 and their set was seriously incredible. Even after seeing them live many many times that set knocked me right out, and sadly no one was taping! So I brought along my stuff to capture this one. Overall it was a great set and they are in excellent form right now. My only complaint is that they got sucked into a 22 minute (seriously) rendition of Trapezoid and squandered too much time on what's ultimately not their best material. Also the sound man's mixing was all over the place, sometimes keys too loud, sometimes can't hear the organ at all, and in the latter half of Trapezoid he cranked the bass like... insanely loud. The recording clips even though I lowered the levels. It was so unbelievably loud in-person that I was on the verge of fleeing the crowd since it was downright uncomfortable even with earplugs in. Other than those things (and the too-high expectations set by HSMF!) it was a great set!
If you were there, I was the guy with the two mics covered in Same Same But Different socks since I couldn't find windscreens big enough to cover the mics I was using. Josh from Sac-town, hit me up if you see this, enjoyed talking with you man.
