Goodmorning!
☀️ The third part of our trip is upon us, as we slowly bid farewell to Thoddoo Island, but... we're doing it in style. In this episode, I'm taking you on a snorkeling trip in the Maldives – an experience that will change your perspective on just how beautiful nature can be. We'll see crystal-clear water, coral reefs, and fish I've only seen in nature documentaries.
We'll also sail to a deserted sandbank, a patch of sand in the middle of the ocean, where I'll discuss an important topic: the ethics of optional excursions. Is feeding fish bread for beautiful shots okay? I'm sharing my honest thoughts on the darker side of tourism in paradise, which we (unfortunately) were a part of.
But that's not all! I'll show you what cheap travel between islands looks like. We're swapping expensive speedboats for local transport, the so-called "sandboats." A public ferry will take us to our next destination: Mathiveri Island for next to nothing. A completely different, calmer vibe awaits us there, along with sharks in the harbor and the best food we've ever had on the archipelago.
In this episode, we'll cover: Snorkeling and Shark Point - an encounter with nurse sharks and stingrays in their natural habitat. Sandbank in the Maldives - what does an "island made of sand" in the middle of a lagoon look like? Local transport (Public Ferry) - how to navigate cheap ferries between islands (prices and logistics). Mathiveri - first impressions of a new island that is the definition of "slow motion." Costs and tips - how much does a snorkeling trip cost and what to watch out for when paying in dollars? Sun vs. Skin - why might even UV protection of 50 not be enough in the Maldives?
Join me for an episode full of excitement, adrenaline, and the most epic drone footage I've ever captured. If you want to explore the world and are looking for inspiration for exciting travels, be sure to subscribe to my channel. New episodes every Sunday at noon!
