This test shows two things. 1 - The processor on the UX305LA is more powerful. That much is obvious because it's a later generation, higher clocked Core CPU. 2 - Thermal limitations of the Surface Pro 3. After about 5 minutes of rendering the SP3 gets too hot and starts down-clocking. The UX305, because it's a laptop design (less stacking of components near the mainboard, more thermal headroom) it continues at full power for the full render. It saved 4 minutes of time in this example but if you're rendering out an hour-long video the UX305 is going to be around 2 X faster than the Surface Pro 3. This is something to think about with all detachable designs - thermal headroom could be limited and effect video rendering and gaming.
