Another render-test line-up. This time we've got the Toshiba Radius 12 (Core i7 6500U) the Dell Precision 15 (Xeon E3 1050) the Surface Book (Core i7 6600U) and the Surface Pro 3 (Core i5 4300U.)

This test uses CPU rendering only under battery power with high-performance settings enabled where possible.

Toshiba Radius 12, 09:49, 3.707Wh
Dell Precision 15, 6:52, 4.55Wh
Surface Book, 9:04, 4W
Surface Pro 3, 13:30, 4.8Wh

Note that all four of these devices actually took a similar amount of power to do the job. The Xeon got the job done more quickly but used up to 45W.

Screen levels were all set at a similar (Est 150 nits) level but screen sizes and differing DPI means that backlight power levels are different across the range.

Tip: Turn off screen backlight when rendering for less power utilisation and less heat (less throttling.)

Noise: SP3 was the noisest followed by the Radius 12. The Precision was pusing a lot of air but that fans appear to be quiet (probably because they're bigger + there's two of them. The Surface Book was the quietest.

Throttling: Surface Pro 3 throttles a lot. Precision 15 had noticeable throttling. Surface Book and Radius 12 had very little detectable throttling. Throttling can change under different environments and if devices are being charged.
