Floral Frame
I started out with a floating frame from Hobby Lobby. Then I got two packs of flat floral embellishments also from Hobby Lobby make sure to watch for sales when shopping there. I took her quote from canva and uploaded it to Cricut Design Space. I resized it by creating a shape about the size of the floating frame to make sure everything will look proportionate. Then I clicked continue and had my Cricut cut it out on wine vinyl. Then I went to weed and realized it was too thin of font and had my Cricut cut it a second time with a bolder font following the same steps. Then I weeded the actual design. From there I prepped my frame by cleaning it with some glass cleaner and a paper towel. Then I placed it on a sticky cricut mat to help me find center for my vinyl and stuck it down. Then I cleaned the remaining pieces of glass and started to arrange my flowers. For this I had no rhyme or reason, I was just placing them where I thought the colors looked nice together. From there I sandwiched my flowers between the two pieces of glass and slid them back into the frame, adding in the foam spacers. I gave everything a last good cleaning and the frame is ready to gift. I love this gift to give to my mom and I know she will love it too. There is something so thoughtful yet classy by giving a quote in this way and the beauty is she can change out the flowers as her color scheme changes.
Canvas Wall Hanging
I started out with these wooden sticks I got from the dollar tree for another project and cut them in half to make 2.5 x 10 inch sticks. Then I have canvas that I purchased from amazon and have been cutting from for dozens of projects. I took the canvas and made it to be 10x 13 inches for this project. I went ahead and measured out where my wood sticks would need to lay for everything to be straight later on in the project. I marked that with a pencil. Then I made my design in Canva and imported it to Cricut Design Space. I resized by making a template using my shape tool to make sure everything looked proportionate. Then I hid the shape and clicked continue. I mirrored my design since it will be cut out of Iron On vinyl and I let my cricut do its thing. From there I weeded out my design and since it was iron-on vinyl it took no time at all. Then I got my Easy Press ready and prepped my canvas and placed the design on top making sure it was centered in between the pencil marks we made earlier. I used my easy press at 350 for 30 seconds all over the design. Then I peeled away the transfer tape revealing the design. Lastly, I cut a piece of string and hot glued it to the top on the canvas then I added more glue and added the first wooden stick making sure it lined up with the pencil mark. Then I did the same with the bottom stick making sure everything looked straight. Then I turned it over and sandwiched the canvas between the back sticks on both the top and bottom for a more finished look.
-Like I said this project probably took less than 30 minutes to create and it definitely looks store bought. The design possibilities are endless as you can cut out whatever you want with your cricut and add whatever color vinyl to the canvas.
