Sermon: Three "Christmas" Trees (December 14 2025)
Genesis 2:8-9; 15-17, 3:22-24; Galatians 3:13-14; Revelation 2:7;22:2, 14, 19
🔵 A Gift in Old Eden
• The tree of the knowledge of good and evil was a sign of the curse for disobeying God’s command. The tree of life was a sign of the blessing for obedience.
• Adam’s fall brought sin and death, but God promised redemption.
🟢 A Curse at Calvary
• The tree of the knowledge of good and evil became a tree of God’s curse when Christ was hanged on the ”tree,” or the cross.
• Jesus, the Second Adam, bore the curse for us, opening the way for us to partake of the Tree of Life.
🟣 A Blessing in the New Eden
• The Tree of Life reappears in the new creation, symbolizing eternal life and spiritual healing for all who trust in Christ.
• The Christmas tree, rooted in Christian tradition, is a picture of the grand story of redemption—from Eden, to Calvary, to the restored paradise—pointing to Jesus as the one true Tree of Life.
