Deuteronomy 4:2; 12:32; 2 Timothy 3:16; 1 John 4:1-3 (October 12, 2025)
Confession: Belgic Confession of Faith Articles 4, 6, 7
🟡 Introduction
The sufficiency of the Holy Scripture alone means that we must not add to or subtract from it, since it is sufficient for worship and life.
🔵 “You Shall Not Add to It or Take from It”
The Apocrypha and the Gnostic “Gospel” are not of divine origin, and must be read with discernment. The Bible has stern warnings to those who add to or subtract from God’s word.
🟣 For Regulating Worship: “In Spirit and Truth”
Worship must be regulated by God’s word alone, not by human traditions, innovations, and creativity. Psalm-singing is necessary.
🟡 Sufficient for Life: “For Teaching and Training in Righteousness”
Scripture is sufficient for salvation, and the life of faithfulness and righteousness that follows.
🟢 Conclusion
The Holy Scripture is sufficient for salvation, worship, and life. It is perfect and complete in all respects. Therefore, all doctrines and practices must be according to God’s Word alone.
