How to Make Vertical Subtitle In Final Cut Pro X

Sometimes in some languages, people want their subtitles overlay to video in vertical mode. But in Final Cut Pro X, there is no Titles support vertical mode. How can we do that?
We have to use Motion to make a Title template for Final Cut Pro X. Let me show you how. We just take the Basic Title as a sample. Right click on it, and choose Open a copy in Motion. If you don’t have Motion, you have to download it from App Store.
So here’s the title. Let me select the title and in the Inspector, choose Text, choose Layout. Then, in Direction, choose Vertical. That’s it. You can do many many more settings and make the title very very beautiful and complex. But for me, I just want the text to be vertical
So that’s it. Let me save it and save as a duplicate. Give it a name Vertical Subtitle and Publish. So when you click the Publish button, the Title will be shown in Final Cut Pro X. So, Vertical text, vertical subtitle. That’s the on we created just now.
Once we have this Vertical text title, we can use another software
to import SRT subtitles to Final Cut Pro X. Let me show you how. Here I’d like to do some modification to this subtitle. Ok first, I want the subtitle to show in this corner and I want it to be a little bit smaller in size. Then I’d like to set Alignment to Top and let me add Outline for it
and set the outline color to Black, the width to 3 or 4. Ok, that’s it. This is the Title and let me go back to the project. Click on project and export a xml file to demo file directory. Then I can use Final SRT
and just drag the SRT subtitle file and the xml file
to FinalSRT and export xml file. Let me keep both.
