There was such a small hammer in my workshop. It is very convenient to work because of its small size, but the handle unfortunately completely fell into disrepair, it was very loose on it. The hammer was trying to fly off in an unknown direction. And the appearance would not hurt to put in order. I do not know what kind of hammer it is, whether it is a straightening hammer or a boot hammer. But it does not matter, the main thing is that it is there. The first thing I do is free it from the old wooden handle. Then I start polishing. First with a large grinding disc, then with a polishing disc. Finally, I treat it with a fine sandpaper and polish it with goi paste. Since this way the hammer will quickly rust, I decided to bury it in linseed oil. To do this, I heat the hammer to about 600 degrees and lower it into the oil. I clean the working part of the hammer from blackening, so there it is not necessary. Now you need a pen. I'll make it out of a piece of beech. To do this, I cut the size of the old handle and process the rasp to the desired size. Sandpaper completely align and polish the surface of the wood. By the way, you can go to a friendly channel    / @handsonrestoring   there are a lot of interesting videos, put a like and subscribe, if not difficult. Then I fit the handle under the hammer, stick it in, and hammer in the wedge. It remains only to soak the handle with the same linseed oil and everything is ready! Now the hammer is safe to use, does not rust and looks very beautiful!

Thanks for watching!
