Finding the Basis of the Null Space of a Linear Transformation

We give an example of finding the null space of a linear transformation. We first find the matrix representation of the linear operator in the standard basis, then we compute the reduced row echelon form of the matrix. Each column of the matrix which does not contain a leading one will represent a free variable and therefore generate a basis element of the null space.
