Householder Transformations
We discuss the Householder transform. This transformation is the identity minus a rank one complex projection. It plays and essential role in numerical approximation methods. We prove the basic properties of this transformation: it is symmetric, it is unitary, and it is self-invertible. We also find that the spectrum of the operator is always one or negative one.
