Lagrange Polynomial Interpolation
We consider the question of polynomial interpolation. If we are given n points in the plane, when can we find a unique polynomial that interpolates them? The answer is given by the Lagrange interpolating polynomial. We show that in order to best approximate a function by polynomials we must minimize a certain special polynomial with appropriately spaced roots.
