Back in 1947, a newly independent India made a choice to remain non- aligned. World was divided into two blocs. USA led capitalist bloc and USSR led communist bloc. India wanted friendship and economic assistance from both sides. Times have changed , and the government changed, but the crux of India's foreign policy remains the same.
