What is Non-Alignment? How is it different from Strategic Autonomy?
The concept of non-alignment is India's contribution to International Relations. The policy was announced by Jawaharlal Nehru, soon after taking over as interim Prime Minister. It is said to be directly related to Cold War which commenced as soon as Second World War ended. Cold war was fought without weapons and armed forces , a war of nerves, a war diplomatically fought between two hostile camps. The policy of non-alignment was to keep way from bloc politics, maintain friendship with both and military alliance with none and evolve an independent foreign policy. When Cold War ended with disintegration of Soviet Bloc, a new term emerged Strategic autonomy.
