MUSE: THE TIME MACHINE - Roland Bacon

Observing galaxies to the very edge of the Universe is the grand ambition of the MUSE project, the Multi-Unit Spectroscopic Explorer. In January 2014, the MUSE instrument, one of the latest 3D spectrographs, observed its first star from the Atacama Desert in Chile. Since then, every night, it has tirelessly observed the sky for the entire scientific community, revealing numerous discoveries. How does one go from an idea, a concept, to creating such a time machine? What technical challenges had to be overcome? What can such technological feats be used for? What do we hope to learn about the genesis of galaxies?
Roland Bacon wanted to present the documentary film dedicated to this project, which he initiated, produced by CNRS Images and directed by Claude Deshaye and Christophe Gombert.
