Christmas Star Led Chaser With ATtiny13A
In this video I build a Christmas star led chaser without any PCB using the freeform technique. This time I took the inspiration from The Star of Bethlehem, which many Christians believe the star was a miraculous sign.
For driving the star, I decided to use ATtiny13A which is AVR 8-bit microcontroller and several through-hole components. The code is written in C language in Visual Studio Code and the microcontroller is programmed with USBasp programmer.
For the frame of the star I use a brass wire (diameter 1.5 mm) which is a little fragile and you can break it if you bend it too much or many times at the same point. If you decide to make it as well, I recommend to polish wires for a better look.
In the video you may notice that I use an insulated wire for the stand. It’s because I use two lithium-ion batteries in parallel for the power supply and I need to prevent shorts. The star should blink and not finish in flames. 😊
I tested the circuit with 3.3V and 5V, but the maximum voltage you can connect to it is 5.5V, which is the maximum operating voltage of ATtiny13A microcontroller. Because of very low power dispassion the star should stay blinking for several months.
