Harpy… We recall the myths of Ancient Greece, in mythology there were such lovely creatures-half-women/half-birds, who guarded the entrance to Tartarus (this is where everything in our life periodically flies) and also kidnapped children and children. With mythological namesakes, these harpies, which are birds, have common features: the name, the lower half of the body, and the General emotional color.
In total, there are three genera of harpies on Earth, separated into a separate subfamily of the order hawk. Each genus has one species: South American, Guiana, and new Guinea. They have many similarities, but today I will talk about harpies, referring to their most impressive representative-the South American and Philippine harpy (Harpia harpyja).
