Malinois is a breed of Belgian shepherd known for its energy, intelligence and excellent working qualities. Originally bred in Belgium as a herding dog, today the Malinois is most often used in service and security work. These dogs are incredibly fast, hardy and easy to train, which makes them popular in the police, army and rescue operations.
In appearance, the Malinois resembles a German Shepherd, but has a lighter build and short, dense reddish-brown or sandy-colored coat with a black mask on the muzzle. These are dogs that require a lot of physical and mental activity. Not only do they need constant training and tasks, but they are also attached to their owners, needing close contact with the family.
