David Davis on Monroe Style Mandolin
In January 2023, David Davis, bandleader of the legendary Warrior River Boys, joined me and David McLaughlin on the first ever Monroe Style Jamming Zoom Workshop to talk about his history with the music, connection with Bill Monroe, and shared his versions of Daybreak in Dixie and Your Love is Like a Flower.
Tragically, David passed away in September 2024. We wanted to honor his memory by posting our last memories with our friend. He was one of the best Monroe style pickers and singers and more importantly, was a kind and gracious gentleman. He was a fine ambassador of the music and a faithful believer. We will miss David.
