Learn Rawhide on Mandolin! [Bill Monroe] Intermediate Level Lesson
Rawhide can teach a student invaluable knowledge about bluegrass mandolin. From powerful sliding double-stops, to lightning quick runs of notes, to the unusual 3-6-2-5 bridge chords, it's chock full with powerful music and is great training for learning by ear.
I learned it about 30 years ago and it's still one of my very favorite tunes to play. It was extremely empowering because it imparts so much about how it all works. Remember you can slow the video down on YouTube, pause it and run it back to work out the more complicated phrases. It can take a long time to learn it, but it is worth it!
