Natlan Archon Quest Ch. V ACT II | Black Stone Under a White Stone (Genshin Impact)
You make new friends amongst the People of the Springs and leave memories behind. It's good to a break before embarking on a new journey.
Spoiler Warning:
So the long awaited clash between the Pyro Archon and the Captain of the Fatui Harbingers finally happened. I think this is the first time we've seen an Archon demonstrate their fighting power at best, and it is nice to see an Archon who is both a ruler and a fighter by heart. Seeing Capitano show his power capable of going toe to toe with the Natlan's Archon is definitely impressive. As expected of the First of the Fatui Harbingers. Although, before their fight could conclude, it did seem Mavuika had the upper hand just a tiny bit but that shouldn't be a surprise, as she is an Archon.
Excluding the amazing fight aside, I do appreciate and respect Capitano's integrity. It would seem that he has roots in Natlan, knowing how invested he is concerning Natlan's fate against the Abyss. Perhaps he's one of the ancient heroes from Natlan's past who was forgotten or kept to himself? Or perhaps there's more to that. I don't really like speculating a characters' identity just because of his design, as there's nothing more to make an argument for that. But part of his outfit's motif has a very small bit of likeness with Dainsleif's outfit. There is a possibility of him being from Khanri'ah, if the legends from the disaster are true. Again, this is just an observation and nothing more really.
Mavuika's revelation was a surprise. I do like that we're already getting a backstory for the Archon right off the bat, instead of later. Kind of humanizes her really, and how even though the passage of time still affects her, she knows she needs to be strong to save her people. For Mondstadt, it was freedom, Liyue was contracts, Inazuma eternity, Sumeru was wisdom, Fontaine was justice, and Natlan is strength.
I'm glad they bought the heroes of the Natlan's past back, that was mentioned way back in Fontaine, it's nice they are giving them spotlight in the Archon Quest, even if just a little. I wonder if we'll see the rest of the heroes, as their tales in Natlan were really epic. Tenoch and the rest were nice to see.
To think the Abyss had such a grip on Natlan, to the point they could only suppress little by little even after hundreds of years is just crazy. I found it fascinating that in Fontaine, it was the Heavenly Principles they were up against, an entity that is asleep. But in Natlan, it's the Abyss, and they are wide awake and expanding out there.
