In this journal entry I continue to explore multitasking operating systems of the 1980's, this time comparing the Amiga to the Sinclair QL. Both offered preemptive multitasking operating systems in the mid 80s (QL in 84 and Amiga in 85) and I will compare their performance. Part 3 will demonstrate the Amiga's early operating system running on an emulated Amiga 500 with Workbench 1.3 and compare it to that of the QL with its stock QDOS operating system with an add-on toolkit and a graphical user interface, ICE. I will showcase both machines’ preemptive multitasking kernel.
