In this journal entry I'll take a look at my Iomega parallel Zip drive. I got this free a few years ago and decided to tinker with it when I learned you can hook this up to an Amiga. Today I'll just check to see if it works, how fast it is, and plan how in the future I'll go about hooking it up to my Amiga 600. I'll also look long-term about potentially trying it out on my Sinclair QL. The parallel interface is an old one and modern computers don't fully support it. Even a USB-to-Parallel interface doesn't support all the modes of the IEEE 1284 (parallel port) standard. I had to pull out one of my older laptops (Inspiron 8600) to give it a try. Also tried to use a serial (DB25 connector) breakout box to see if I could understand the signals begin sent form my computer to the Zip drive, but had no luck.
