Singapore's First Certified Lactation Expert
In conjunction with World Breastfeeding Week 2021, we spoke with Mrs Doris Fok, a lactation consultant from our #NUSMedicine Dept of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, to learn about the importance of breastfeeding and the resources available to support breastfeeding mothers.
#PeopleofNUSMedicine: A pioneering advocate of #breastfeeding in Singapore, Doris Fok is the first Singaporean to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). With a career in the field of lactation spanning close to four decades, Doris is passionate in teaching mothers to breastfeed and following up with them on their ‘fourth trimester’, a term she uses to describe the period that mothers go through in nurturing their children immediately after they have given birth.
