Hyundai Kona EV Review - Select Car Leasing
The Hyundai Kona is a popular compact crossover that’s available in a number of different guises, from a traditional-fuelled engine and a hybrid to a performance ‘N’ variant.
But it’s the award-winning Kona Electric that really maximises efficiency, helping to drive-down your fuel bill.
Thanks to a low Benefit in Kind (BIK) tax bracket, it also makes perfect sense as a company car for business lease customers.
A smaller sibling to Hyundai’s award-winning electric Ioniq 5, the Kona Electric comes with a choice of two batteries, depending on which trim level you choose.
A major update for the Kona in 2023 saw the addition of a 48kW battery and a new 65kW unit, the larger of those two offering a range of up to 319 miles between charges.
The 39 kWh unit provides a range of up to 189 miles, while the larger 64 kWh battery will let you travel up to 300 miles between charges.
That compares well with the Kona Electric’s biggest rival, the Kia Niro EV, with the Niro having a range of up to 285 miles between battery top-ups.
Entry level models come generously specced as standard, enjoying rear parking sensors and adaptive cruise control, while range-topping models get everything from heated and ventilated front seats to wireless phone charging and an uprated sound system.
