This video will show you how to compose and send an email through Google Docs.

What are the advantages of drafting emails in Google Docs and sending them directly to Gmail?

Multiple people can edit, comment, and suggest changes in real time. This makes it ideal for team-based communication. It is also useful when you need feedback before sending an important message.

Google Docs provides more robust formatting, editing, and proofreading tools compared to Gmail’s native compose. Docs has features like tables, version history, and integrated AI writing assistance.

You can draft, refine, and send emails without copying and pasting between apps. This streamlines your workflow and reduces the risk of errors.

Keeping email drafts in Docs allows you to maintain a record of communications related to a project or task.

Then, hover over Building blocks and select Email draft.

You may also type @email draft directly into the document and select the Email draft option from the pop-up menu.

Fill in the Cc and Bcc fields if needed. Add a Subject.

Write your email in the message body area. You may also collaborate with others by sharing the document and using comments or suggestions.

Next, Preview and Send the Email

When ready, click the blue Gmail (M) icon next to the draft block labeled “Preview in Gmail.”

A Gmail compose window will pop up with all fields pre-filled from your draft.
Review your email. You can make final edits or add attachments in this window.
