Do you want to transfer your domain from wordpress.com to another registrar?

Maybe you want to host your website with another provider and want to transfer your domain there, too.

If so, you would need to get the EPP code from wordpress.com to effect the transfer.

Before we look at the steps, let's first learn what an EPP Code is.

EPP stands for Extensible Provisioning Protocol.

You would require this code to transfer your domain from one registrar to another.

The EPP code is also known as the Authorization Key or the Transfer Secret Key.

This code prevents your domain from being transferred illegally.

Without the EPP Code you'll not be able to transfer your domain out of wordpress.com to another registrar.

That said, here are the steps on how to get the EPP Code for the domain you want to transfer.

After logging in to your WordPress.com dashboard, go down to the Cart menu.

From there choose Domains.

You'll be presented with a list of domains hosted on wordpress.com.

Select the domain you wish to transfer.

Next, click on Transfer on the right panel.

Then go to Transfer to another Registrar.

You'll find that the transfer lock is turned on by default.

To get the EPP code, you would have to unlock domain transfer.

Click on the blue button to unlock your domain.

Next, click on Get Authorization code.

You'll receive a notification saying that the EPP Code has been sent to your registered email address.

Please check the email you registered with wordpress.com.

You should see a code something like this.

Copy the code and send it to your new registrar to effect the domain transfer process.

Go ahead and try the above steps to get your EPP code.
