The Longest Fjord
We were on board a vehicular ferry traversing Sognefjord, the longest fjord in Norway, our prow slicing through water that resembled dark green glass, our wake leaving a spreading, corrugated trail across the fjord's mirrored surface. On the vehicular deck below was Joyce Williams' faithful Volkswagen Golf, that had carried us this far and would carry us further but for now was at rest. The scenery was at its perpendicular Norwegian best.
