Bankstown Garden Waste
Here’s another video I’ve been sitting on for a long time, I would have taken this sometime in 2012 on one of those daytime adventures after my night rounds at Watts Waste. I got plenty of footage of the council garbos and recyclers back then, so of course I had to get more of greens, thus one Thursday I located truck 733 working in southern Bankstown between the suburbs of Panania and Revesby. Cleanaway had been doing garden organics here since this third bin service was commenced in 1999, when the 2007 contract started a trio of blue Superior Pak Ivecos were introduced for the fortnightly collections. They featured the same signage as the later model council sides loaders at the time, just presented in another layout due to the different body configuration. These trucks were virtually the same as the 25m units that did greens in Baulkham Hills, except I’m still not sure if these Bankstown ones had nose cone pendulums or just regular packing faces. In later years the three ACCOs became depot spares, with ex-Parra SPAK/Dennis side arms filling in until JJ Richards took over garden waste runs for the larger amalgamated council.
Not long before I took these clips Bankstown had rolled out those brand new Sulos to residents for garden waste, a staged process that occurred between 2008 and 2012 to replace the aged 1980s Ottos. Speaking of bins, it’s cool to see virtually only the green lid 240Ls lining certain streets with the garbage collected many hours earlier, makes for clear and easy operating conditions! There was also something neat about Bankstown green waste during the Cleanaway days, would’ve been sweet to experience it with these trucks and the early starts, all history now but. I was glad to capture this additional action of another truck, but I think I prefer the original video I chucked up of 731 from a few years earlier, better operating, old bins, nicer weather, etc. Oh and AussieGarbo67 also got the third machine 731 in his uploads a while ago, so each 2007 truck was covered. I must even say this one was continuing to look real presentable when I caught it, not a bad appearance after some 5 years of service. Anyway hope this share of what was is enjoyed!
