I wasn't going to post this, because I did something I should not have done.
NOTE: The very end of this video may be uncomfortable for some viewers. It certainly is for me.
So, today my back pain was a 7/10. (That's as good as it ever gets). Those who know me, know I have a ridiculous amount of severe injuries and disease (not just in my back, but A LOT). Osteoporosis being the key one here (caused by gastroenterologists shoving high dose Prednisone down my throat for over 10 years to treat a very case of Pancolitis.
I'm not going to write out the full list, but when you've broken 25+ vertebrae in the last 5 years, eventually you get used to that pain.
When I break my back at this point; the pain is severe; I have to break out my brace, and the next several days I'm in severe pain (all other pain aside which varies daily by severity). Then an achy pain for a couple of weeks, then I don't really notice it because everything else is so much worse. So despite knowing it still needs 5 or 6 weeks to heal, I no longer feel the direct pain associated with it.
Here's my problem (and if you're a chronic pain sufferer, please comment if this happens to you).
On my "good days" my brain thinks my body is ok, like it has amnesia, and so I do things I generally can't or struggle with. One of those things is feeding the dog because I can't bend over to get his food dish etc...
Today, I did it without thinking and I made him a delicious snack because he's a good boy.
I prepped his food and I even put it back down without a problem. Just not really thinking about it, as if I were ok.
Then I decided to film it.
I taught him how to count among other things, so I filmed that interaction, just to have with no intention of ever sharing it.
I even got down a 3rd time to film him & give him some love, but my back was like... NOPE! THREE STRIKES AND YOU'RE OUT!
The sound you hear at the end is my vertebrae snapping / cracking as I tried to get back up (multiple breaks in my lower thoracic region). How many people get to hear that? Yes, it hurts as bad as it sounds, and now I'm immobile on my far Infrared heating pad at 145 degrees.
Life just sucks. A one time pro swimmer, lifeguard for 10 years, always exercising... now I can't sit or stand for more than 10 minutes at a time without crippling pain. A highly active person my entire life now reduced to a disabled hollow shell of brittle nothingness.
If that sounds uncomfortablly depressing... It is. Decided to share to spread medical info regarding osteo / pain / shoulds and shouldn'ts.
But my therapy pug: Bobafetch LePugdalorian is adorable, no?
