This nice little guitar amp started life as a Hammond AO-44 reverb amp. This is my second one of these refurbs. The original amp been totally refurbished electrically and cosmetically. The chassis, transformers, and tubes are the only original components remaining. The chassis is painted with Rustoleum Bronze Hammertone. The transformers are painted with a charcoal metallic type paint.
The AO-44 uses the ECL86 tube which is a combination triode/pentode. Output is about 8 watts. This amp retains really full tone even at low volume making it a fantastic bedroom amp. My friend Buzz is playing the guitar through a custom speaker cabinet he made to Electrovoice specs to hold the EV12L speaker.
