STUDENT AWARD WINNERS
Sam Keller, "Translating Sense of Place for Food Outlets in Chittenden County, VT: Aesthetic Characterization of Pedestrian Accessibility Hubs", The 2024 Green Mountain Scholar Award. Born & raised in Jericho, Vermont, Sam is a junior in Community-Centered Design.
Nora Sissenich, "The Emergence of Controversy over Digital Libraries in Rural Vermont", The 2024 Bryan Award. With New York City roots, Nora is a first-year student at UVM studying public health and mathematics, who plans to pursue a doctorate in the social sciences.
Hanna Hartman, “Becoming Burlington: An Analysis of Citizen Engagement in Waterfront Revitalization", The 2024 Nuquist Award. From Pelham, MA Hanna is a graduating Geography and Religion double major at the University of Vermont.
LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD WINNERS
Marjorie Strong served as Assistant Librarian at Vermont Historical Society for over two decades. Hired at a time that library systems were transitioning from analog to digital, and she was instrumental in bringing VHS’s collection into the digital age.
Paul Carnahan served as Librarian at Vermont Historical Society for 32 years. With Marjorie Strong, he answered a variety of fascinating reference questions about Vermont history and genealogy. During his tenure he oversaw the library’s move from the Pavilion Building in Montpelier to the Vermont History Center in Barre.
Jeffrey Marshall came to UVM in 1988 and served as Curator of Manuscripts and University Archivist, Curator of the Wilbur Collection of Vermontiana, and then in 2006 he was appointed Director of Special Collections.
