How did Darth Plagueis become the Sith Master? 67 years before the Battle of Yavin, in the eerie quiet of a cave on Bal’demnic, destiny whispered to an ambitious Sith apprentice. Darth Tenebrous, with his apprentice Darth Plagueis at his side, discovered a vein of lightsaber-resistant cortosis. Their exploration took a deadly turn when a pocket of combustible gas near the vein ignited. Tenebrous protected the two Sith with a Force barrier, and in that moment, the Force whispered to Plagueis that his time had come. Plaguies summoned huge slabs of stone to crash down upon his master. Tenebrous, caught off guard, was pinned beneath their weight. Plagueis rushed to his master’s side, not to save him but to savor his master’s final moments. Tenebrous, struggling for breath, conferred the mantle of Sith Master to his apprentice. Accepting the new title with resolve, Plagueis informed his master that his death would mark the end of Darth Bane’s Rule of Two before snapping Tenebrous’s neck.
