During the Clone Wars, Maul rallied crime syndicates no one believed would ever work together. Black Sun, the Pyke Synidcate, Death Watch and the Hutt Clans formed a base of power known as the Shadow Collective. In a dingy cantina, Maul and his brother Savage Opress ensured their next steps were overheard by an operative of the Morubas crime family. Maul then approached Jjan, the leader of the Morubas organization. In response to Maul’s proposal for partnership, Jjan, already aware of Maul’s true intentions, drugged Maul and took him prisoner. As Savage led the Shadow Collective forces in an assault on the Morubas stronghold, Jjan taunted Maul, only to watch as the former Sith freed himself and slaughtered his guards. By the time Savage arrived in the throne room, Maul had already assumed control of Morubas operations. With that complication resolved, Maul moved on to his ultimate goal, to take down his former master, Darth Sidious.
