This time we’re going back to basics, and by that I mean we’re going to look at the most basic way to synchronize sound and video; the clap.

You’ve seen, and probably cringed, at YouTubers doing it at the start of their videos, and you’ve probably read or heard that it’s done for sync sound. But why? Especially today with software that can do waveform synchronization that doesn’t even require a clap, just audio from the same session.

To answer that question, we’ll look at how this process works, both on set, and how to manually link and sync sound and video in Da Vinci Resolve 18.6.
