A Modern Video Centric Look at Canon's EF-S 10-22mm F/3.5-4.5 USM Lens
Canon first introduced the EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM lens back in 2004, and surprisingly it's still in production, or at least available new. While it's maybe not as attractive or technologically sophisticated as a modern RF mount lens, it's not without it's value. Compared to the Canon RF 10-18mm f/4.5-6.3 it's faster throughout the zoom range, has a larger zoom range, and is optically better in many respects.
That said, the EF-S 10-22 isn't prefect. It's a 20 year old design, and that shows especially in the manual and auto focusing systems.
However, the real trick up the lens's sleeve is that it's image circle is big enough to cover a super 35 format frame, and it can be used that way on the EOS C70, or the R5C, and C400 in Super 35 crop modes.
On top of that, the image quality is such that even on a APS-C EOS R camera, it may out shine the newer RF-S 10-18 as well.
