WATCH: Powerful magnitude 7.1 earthquake hits southern California
A strong #earthquake shook #SouthernCalifornia, following a significant foreshock. First estimated at 6.4 magnitude, the quake has been downgraded to a 7.1, recorded near the city of Ridgecrest, near #LosAngeles.
The quake was reportedly centered on the remote Searles Valley area in San Bernardino.
Two magnitude 4 aftershocks were also recorded in the area, according to the United States Geological Survey.
It is unclear if there were any injuries in the quake, but local emergency response agencies have been overwhelmed with calls.
