WATCH: Buildings shake as Istanbul is ROCKED by terrifying earthquake
#Turkey's largest city #Istanbul has been rocked by an #earthquake, thought to have a magnitude of 5.7.
Witnesses have described large tremors as the quake struck at around 2pm local time.
Schools were evacuated in the aftermath of the natural disaster.
Earlier a smaller quake, with a magnitude of 2.9, had struck close to the city, which has 16 million inhabitants, while on Monday a 4.6 magnitude earthquake was recorded.
Following the latest incident, Laura Grace wrote on Twitter : "Woah. 5.7 earthquake just hit Istanbul and my whole flat rocked like crazy."
