A good measurement system provides measurements that closely align with the actual values. Depending on the risk or significance, in one situation, the measurements must match the actual values much more closely than in another situation. That's why, for instance, the measurement system for swim times at the Olympic Games is much better (and more expensive) than the measurement system for processing times at a packaging manufacturer. In this video the concepts of validity, reliability, and accuracy are explained in relation to a good measurement system.
